Borough OKs settlement in student’s teacher-sex lawsuit
PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Pennsylvania borough council has voted to settle a lawsuit filed by a former student who accused officials of failing to investigate accusations of assaults by a high school teacher.
Plum officials didn’t identify those involved in the settlement, which was approved unanimously Monday night.
Two female students at Plum Senior High School have sued over sex with teachers. Three male teachers have pleaded guilty and are serving prison sentences, a fourth was acquitted of charges he tried to intimidate one of the accusers by pointing her out in class.
Court documents filed in July indicated the Plum Borough School District reached a settlement in another lawsuit.
Borough officials said only that seven parties are involved in the settlement approved Monday, and that the borough was the first to approve it.
Terms weren’t immediately disclosed.
