Waynesburg shooting suspect arrested in Tenn.

Cody D. Jannenga
Authorities said a man wanted in connection with a shooting in Waynesburg last week has surrendered himself to police in Tennessee.
Cody D. Jannenga, 21, of Piney Flats, Tenn., is accused of shooting a man multiple times after forcing himself into a Waynesburg apartment March 26. Police described the incident as an armed robbery involving drugs.
Waynesburg police Officer Thomas Ankrom said Jannenga’s information was sent to law enforcement in Tennessee after it was unclear if he was still in the area or had returned to his home state. Jannenga moved to this area about a year ago.
He was booked at Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office about 1 a.m. Monday.
“He actually just turned himself into the sheriff’s office,” Ankrom said.
The Greene County district attorney’s office has been notified, Ankrom said, and the extradition process is underway to return Jannenga to Pennsylvania to face charges in connection with the shooting.
Jannenga, according to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, was booked on charges of failure to appear, domestic violence and vandalism. No arrest report for that incident was provided. Sullivan County is just south of the Virginia border and about 350 miles from Waynesburg.
Jannenga was charged in Greene County last week with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, three counts of robbery, including one with a specification of intent to inflict serious bodily injury, harassment, theft, and three counts of conspiracy to commit robbery.
Also facing charges in connection with the shooting is Kody Alan Scott, 21, of 206 S. Washington St., Waynesburg. Scott was arrested March 27 just hours after police identified him as a second suspect.
Scott is being held in Greene County jail on $75,000 bond and has a preliminary hearing set for 2:30 p.m. Friday before district Judge Glenn Bates.
Waynesburg police said Johnathan C. Fannon was shot multiple times after two armed intruders entered his apartment at 53 S. Morris St. Borough police found Fannon lying on the patio just outside his apartment shortly after 10 p.m. March 26 with multiple gunshot wounds to his left thigh and a neighbor attempting to stop the bleeding.
According to the criminal complaint, Fannon, his girlfriend, Brandi Stump, and their 16-month old child had just arrived home before the shooting. Someone knocked on the door and when Stump answered, the man pointed a gun in her face. Fannon tried to fight off the intruders as his girlfriend and their child hid in a bedroom.
Fannon eventually told Scott and Jannenga to take his pills and leave the home, after which the two ran away. Fannon was released from an area hospital following treatment for his wounds.
