Four people were charged last week by state police in connection with a domestic dispute that took place in the yard of a Somerset Township home in December.

Charges were filed at the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson against Jessica L. Brown, 38, of 1008 Old West Road; Joshua Paul Brown, 41, and Melissa Brown, 37, both of 284 Swagler Road, Scenery Hill; and Kerissa Hicks, 28, of Homer City, Indiana County.

Police were called to 284 Swagler on Dec. 17 for a report of four people involved in a fight. Hicks reportedly was involved in a physical altercation with Joshua Brown, and Jessica Brown reportedly stepped in to try to stop the altercation. She allegedly pushed Hicks to the ground as Hicks tried to get away.

Hicks told police she ran inside the house to wait for them, locking herself in a second-floor bedroom.

Joshua Brown and Melissa Brown are both accused of punching Hicks in the face, knocking her to the ground. Hicks is accused of pushing both Melissa Brown and Jessica Brown to the ground.

Joshua Brown and Hicks are each charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
