Fire damages Holiday Motel in Franklin Township
An air conditioner unit caught fire in an unoccupied room of the Holiday Motel in Franklin Township shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday, causing moderate damage to the interior of the room, Waynesburg-Franklin fire Chief Jeff Marshall said.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze in Room 29 and kept the fire from spreading to the rest of the motel at 1135 E. High St., Marshall said. Firefighters are investigating what caused the air conditioner unit to ignite.
One lane of East High Street was closed briefly while fire crews were at the scene. Waynesburg-Franklin volunteer firefighters were assisted by Jefferson firefighters.
