Benedum awards grant to Marianna group to create public art
A Pittsburgh foundation awarded a $175,000 grant to an area outdoorsmen group to create art at public parks.
Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation gave to Marianna Outdoorsmen Association for it to hire five artists to create murals at destinations, including Noble J. Dick Aquatorium in Monongahela, foundation spokeswoman Carmelle Nickens said.
“It’s a regional vision,” Nickens said. “The region does need a shot in the arm.”
The artists involved in the project are from Rural Arts Collaborative, and they include, James Simon, Laura Jean McLaughlin and Hiromi Katayama.
