A man who caused a police SWAT team to respond to his Dry Tavern home last year will stand trial on the charges.
John Pochron III, 31, of 980 N. Eighty-Eight Road, was charged earlier this month in connection with the May 30 incident.
Pochron waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless endangerment. One charge of resisting arrest was withdrawn.
Pochron fired shots from his rooftop because he thought “armed ninjas” and the comic book character Deadpool were breaking into his home, state police said in court documents.
Police initially responded to what they believed to be an active shooter situation and found Pochron and his girlfriend, Holly Bercosky, running from their home, where the shots were fired. Pochron told police several people they did not know broke in and chased them to an upstairs bedroom. The two were able to escape by climbing onto the roof.
Police did not find anyone when they searched the home and no one was injured during the incident.
