A woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after she reportedly got into a confrontation with a Washington County sheriff’s deputy who was trying to escort her from the courthouse.

Emma Joy Warzinski, 23, who reportedly has addresses in North Charleston, S.C., and Pittsburgh, is charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct for allegedly trying to hit Deputy Kristie Salzman.

Warzinski had been at the clerk of courts office trying to file a summary appeal of a traffic citation of which she had been found guilty in December by District Judge Gary Havelka. The deputy clerk of courts attempted to tell her the proper procedure, but Warzinski reportedly refused to listen.

Warzinski reportedly was being rude to the worker and another employee called directly to the front door deputy station of the courthouse.

When Salzman arrived, she asked if the business was complete and then told Warzinski to leave the courthouse. As she was leaving the office, Warzinski started screaming at Salzman.

Salzman told Warzinski to stop screaming, but the woman yelled an obscenity as she tried to pull away.

Salzman and Warzinski reportedly got into an altercation near the front door metal detector, where Warzinski allegedly swung at Salzman.

Warzinski was taken into custody, but continued to struggle as she was placed in handcuffs.

Warzinski was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and released from Washington County jail after posting $25,000 bond. She is scheduled for an April 30 preliminary hearing before District Judge Jay Weller.
