CALIFORNIA
Two charged: Chaim Yaac Lichtenstein, 36, and Scott R. Theakston, 53, both of California, were charged Thursday by California police with simple assault and disorderly conduct after the two reportedly fought each other during a March 29 incident at California Manor Apartments, Second Street. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
CHARLEROI
Drug assault charges: Hunter McCurley, 20, of 412 Oakland Ave., Charleroi, was arrested Thursday night by Charleroi Regional police on charges of simple assault and possession of marijuana. He is accused of pushing a man and grabbing a woman by the arm during a confrontation at his home. McCurley was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and released from Washington County jail after posting $1,000 of a $10,000 percentage bond.
COKEBURG
Resisting, drug charges: Jeremiah Robert Cox, 18, of 657 High St., California, was arrested Friday by state police in the backyard of a home on Lincoln Street, Cokeburg. Troopers were contacted by North Strabane Township police who were looking for a wanted juvenile who may be at a home in Cokeburg. When they arrived, they saw him run from the back of a home. When caught, police found him with some marijuana. Troopers also determined Cox was wanted on a juvenile probation warrant. He reportedly ran away from Abraxis School. Cox was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, flight to avoid apprehension and disorderly conduct. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
SOUTH STRABANE
Hit and run crash: Robert Jean-Louis, 70, of Ingersoll, Ont., Canada, told police he was driving his car west on Interstate 70 Friday just west of the south junction with Interstate 79 when the left side of his vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer that crossed into his lane. He said the truck was blue and pulling a white box trailer. Jean-Louis and a passenger were not injured. Anyone with information on the hit and run vehicle is asked to call state police at 724-223-5200.
