Five charged with welfare fraud
Several women from the region were among 67 people charged statewide by the state inspector general with welfare fraud in the first quarter of 2018. The defendants are:
Angela L. Perkins of Brownsville, Fayette County, for $2,886 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program fraud and $2,737.50 in cash assistance fraud; Tiffany M. Matheny of California, for $8,858 in SNAP fraud; Kristal R. Bookhardt of Brownsville, Fayette County, for $2,348 in SNAP fraud and $749.57 in Low-Income Heating Energy Assistance Program fraud; and Casaundra Spadaro of Belle Vernon, Fayette County, for $3,439.00 in SNAP fraud.
