Washington police said two men were assaulted and one of them robbed while they were in a parking lot on Jefferson Avenue early Friday.

Police were called just after 1 a.m. to 501 Jefferson Ave. for a report of a man who had been stabbed in the mouth.

When officers arrived, James Lee Pitock, 54, of Washington, told them he had been pushed to the ground by two men who stole his wallet containing $160. Pitock told police, when he got up to chase them, he saw the men assaulting Norman Baker, 39, of Eighty Four, who had been sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle parked in the lot.

The two suspects then ran, escaping between nearby houses.

Police searched the area but were not able to locate the suspects.

Pitock refused treatment for cuts on his left arm and elbow. He also complained of sore ribs from being kicked. Baker was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment of a cut on his lower lip.
