Eighty Four teenager killed in South Strabane accident
A 19-year-old Eighty Four man was killed in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday night in the 1400 block of East Maiden Street (Route 40) in the Pancake section of South Strabane Township.
Dominic Frank Daniels, who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed when the 2016 Nissan Murano he was driving eastbound struck a tree at 1422 East Maiden Street at about 7:20 p.m., according to a news release from Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco.
Daniels was the only person in the sport utility vehicle, the release said.
Daniels was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by a representative of the Washington County coroner’s office.
There were initial reports the vehicle caught fire, but there was only steam and smoke coming from the vehicle, officials said.
The road was closed for about two-and-a-half hours.
Assisting at the scene were South Strabane firefighters, Washington County sheriff’s deputies and Ambulance and Chair emergency medical personnel.
South Strabane Township police are continuing their investigation.
