AMWELL
Motorcyclist injured: Preston Scott Hatfield, 24, of Washington, was injured early Monday when he crashed his motorcycle at the intersection of Banetown Road and Scenic Drive, Amwell. State police said he was going east on Scenic at an apparent high rate of speed and failed to stop for a stop sign before crashing into a utility pole. He was taken to UPMC, Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.
DONORA
Animal neglect alleged: Andra Dyan Montero, 38, of 915 McKean Ave., Donora, is charged by a Washington Area Humane Society officer with aggravated cruelty to animals and neglect of animals, court records show. Montero is accused of failing to provide food and water to six dogs, one of which was found dead at her residence July 25. The office of District Judge Mark Wilson issued the case Monday in a summons.
FALLOWFIELD
Family members charged: Three members of a Fallowfield family have been charged by state police for allegedly selling heroin to confidential informants on two occasions in Fallowfield. Warrants were obtained for Jobe Franks, 24, of Charleroi for his involvement in the alleged drug sales with his parents. His mother, Melissa Franks, 43, of 529 Woodward Ave., Fallowfield, was arraigned Monday before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin and conspiracy, for allegedly selling the drug to the informant on April 5 on Coyle Curtain Road, Fallowfield. She was released from Washington County Jail after posting $2,000 of a $20,000 percentage bond. Donald Franks, 49, of 579 Woodward Ave., Fallowfield, was arrested Monday on the same charges. Franks and his son, Jobe Franks, also of allegedly sold 10 stamp bags of suspected heroin to a confidential informant near their home on July 26. Donald Franks was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in jail on $10,000 bond.
MONONGAHELA
Theft alleged: Joseph Allan Rocco, 40, of Millvale, is charged by city police with theft and receiving stolen property, court records show. Police accuse Rocco of finding a key to his girlfriend’s safe and using it to steal $7,410 from Tina Madden between April 14 and 16. Lingerie also was stolen from her residence in the 700 block of Sheridan Street. The office of District Judge Mark Wilson issued the case Monday in a summons.
NORTH FRANKLIN
Burglary, mischief charges: Deshawn Chaz Barfield, 24, 25, of 22 E. Prospect Ave., Washington, was charged last week by North Franklin police with burglary and criminal mischief for allegedly breaking into a home at 726 1/2 McElree Road on Aug. 8. He allegedly kicked in the front door, pulled out the air conditioner and kicked open a bedroom door. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Charged in crash: Nathan T. Whipkey, 21, of 675 Vista Valley Road, Washington, was charged Monday by North Franklin police with damage to unattended property, having an open container of alcohol, careless driving and reckless driving stemming from a crash Saturday morning on VanKirk Road. Police said his vehicle went off the road and hit trees. When the officer arrived, Whipkey was not in the car. Two open cans of beer were found inside the car. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
SOUTH FRANKLIN
Harassment alleged: Karen Denise Reese, 34, of Washington, will be charged by state police with harassment after she allegedly slapped Jamie Lynne Creek, 30, of Waynesburg, during a confrontation Monday sat 2180 Park Ave., South Franklin.
