Three flown to hospitals following three separate crashes over the weekend
Three patients were flown to nearby hospitals following three separate crashes over the weekend.
The first crash happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday, when an E-Z-Go utility cart crashed on Lone Pine Road in West Bethlehem Township. State police said the driver, Justin E. Beiswenger, 25, of Washington, was traveling east and “too fast for the conditions.” Police said he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and the vehicle overturned several times before striking a guardrail.
Beiswenger suffered a minor injury and was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital by ambulance. His passenger, Austin M. Strawn, 27, of Valley Grove, W.Va., was flown by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital with suspected serious injuries.
Ambulance and Chair, Canonsburg EMS and Marianna and West Bethlehem fire departments responded to the scene.
The second crash that involved an off-road vehicle happened in a wooded area of Smith Township Sunday afternoon. According to a Washington County 911 supervisor, the crash happened near 163 Bulger Arch Road about 2:15 p.m. The supervisor did not indicate if the vehicle was an ATV or dirt bike.
A few hours later Sunday, a man was flown to a nearby hospital following a motorcycle crash near 879 Linden Road in North Strabane Township.
According to early reports from first responders, the man had not been wearing a helmet when his motorcycle crashed about 3:45 p.m.
