State park hosting search and rescue event
Raccoon Creek State Park in southern Beaver County is hosting a search and rescue exercise Wednesday.
State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources personnel, Pennsylvania Game Commission officers, local volunteer fire departments and search and rescue teams from throughout the region will meet for a mock search, giving all parties the opportunity to test their skills in a safe but realistic search scenario.
The event is not open to the public, but the public should be aware of the emergency personnel conducting the exercise in the park that day, and not be alarmed if they see emergency response vehicles or staff throughout Raccoon Creek State Park. Exercise organizers have designed the search to take place in the more remote areas of the park to minimize intrusion on the members of the public enjoying Raccoon Creek State Park that day.
