LETTER We don’t need another Trump
I am confused about the Republican candidate running in the special election to fill the seat of disgraced congressman Tim Murphy.
Rick Saccone brags about being “Trump before Trump was Trump.” What in the world does he mean? Does this mean he’s a serial liar? A sexist who assaults women? A racist? Anti-Muslim? A white supremacist? Anti-immigration? Against organized labor? Does it mean he will bow down to Russia? Give huge tax breaks to the wealthy?
I hope Saccone answers “no” to all these questions.
I wish Saccone would tell us what he has accomplished as a member of Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives. Instead, he describes his opponent, Conor Lamb, as a liberal Democrat who would vote with Nancy Pelosi. How can Saccone predict how his opponent would vote? This campaign strategy is pure Trump — attacking with half-truths, lies and wild speculations.
Lamb’s television commercial, on the other hand, talks about how he will work with all parties for the good of the people. He doesn’t mention Saccone. He doesn’t attack, he doesn’t accuse, he doesn’t degrade. He simply tells us what he would do if elected.
I’ve concluded that with Saccone, we will get the same right-wing hypocrite we see in President Trump. Enough is enough! It’s time to change the political climate in the 18th Congressional District, our state and our nation. We won’t do that by electing another Trump.
