Firefighters briefly dispatched to courthouse
City firefighters were briefly sent to the Washington County Courthouse about 10:30 a.m. Friday for what turned out to be a malfunctioning heater.
Sheriff’s Deputy Elizabeth Davidson said she called 911 after she saw flames shoot out of a heater near the building’s West Cherry Avenue entrance.
She also said she smelled smoke.
The crew from a fire truck that responded spent a few minutes inside the building. The courthouse wasn’t evacuated.
