MONONGAHELA TOWNSHIP
Burglary: Charles Edward Smith, 78, of Monessen, was charged by state police with burglary, criminal trespass, loitering and prowling at night, and criminal mischief, after he allegedly tried to break into a residence in the 200 block of Stoney Hill Road Saturday evening. Police said that about 6:42 p.m., Smith used a ladder to enter a second story window at the residence. Police said a 55-year-old man who lives in the house met Smith in the window and pushed him out. Smith fled the scene but was located at an address a short distance away and was taken into custody, police said. Smith was arraigned Sunday morning by District Judge Glenn Bates and jailed on a $10,000 percentage bond.
