Investigators from the state Attorney General’s office arrested a Greene County man Thursday on charges he distributed child pornography using an internet file-sharing network.

Trevor Scott Rush, 36, of 106 Mills Alley, Jefferson, was charged with numerous felony counts of distributing and possessing child pornography after investigators searched his borough home and found hundreds of videos and images of young girls performing sex acts on his computer, cellphone and a thumb drive.

Rush told investigators “he is sexually attracted to children, and he has been struggling with the problems for years,” according to court documents.

Investigators said they first became aware of Rush’s activity Jan. 16 when they downloaded pornographic files from his internet server using a file-sharing network. They were able to download more files over the next few days, according to court documents. Investigators then matched the internet protocol address used on the server to Rush’s home.

The agents and state police went to his home Thursday and found more than 300 files involving child pornography on his computer and 10 files on his cellphone.

Rush admitted to investigators he has been viewing child pornography since he was 16 and he “acknowledged” he was a pedophile.

District Judge Glenn Bates arraigned Rush on four counts of disseminating child pornography, 15 counts of possessing child pornography and one charge of criminal use of a communication facility.

He is being held at Greene County jail on $25,000 bond while awaiting his preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 28.
