LETTER Voters need to wake up

I have been watching the mudslinging political ads on television that support Republican politician Rick Saccone and the ads paid for by the political action committees that support him. Is this the person we really want in Washington, D.C., right now? He has said he was “Trump before Trump was Trump.”

Ask Saccone how many pay increases he voted for himself in state government, and ask him about all his state freebies. Pennsylvania is in the red as he irresponsibly “serves” it.

All the negative remarks and false statements directed toward a young, up-and-coming former Marine who has fresh ideas, is willing to work for the people, and with Democrats and Republicans, have not been warranted. The fact that a person does not have political or government experience appeared to be fine with the GOP when they supported President Trump.

It’s time for Saccone and his ilk to go home. He’s had his time in the state to show off what he can do, and we’re not better off with what he’s accomplished — high gas taxes, high turnpike tolls, a rotting infrastructure and a state trying to survive by depending on people’s addictions to alcohol, tobacco and gambling.

It’s time for Democratic candidate Conor Lamb to have a chance in order to preserve what is good for our citizens, improve on them, and move our country in the right direction. It’s not the time for career politicians who are leading our country toward bankruptcy and debauchery.
