Fire damages Canton home
Canton Township firefighters were called about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to a fire at a home at 351 Crescent Drive.
Fire Chief Dave Gump said the fire started with a short in the furnace’s thermostat.
“Fortunately some people were working in the house, or it could have been worse,” Gump said.
Firefighters checked the walls and ceiling to make sure the fire did not spread to other areas. Gump said the damage was minimal.
Assisting at the scene were firefighters from Washington and South Strabane Township.
