Two people were arraigned Monday on warrants obtained by South Strabane Township police charging them in connection with an incident last week at a Strabane Square business.

Autumn Lynn Pliska, 19, of 701 N. Main St., Washington, and Deion Thomas McCracken, 21, of Prosperity, were taken into custody Saturday by state police during a traffic stop in Twilight. The two were placed in Washington County jail on probation violations.

Police were called Feb. 21 to Target for a report of a retail theft. A man, later identified by police as McCracken, allegedly stole items valued at $145.43 by placing them under a 5-month-old baby in a stroller. Police said they also found suspected drug paraphernalia.

McCracken, who had no identification with him, allegedly gave police a different name. When Pliska came into the store looking for him and the baby, she allegedly gave police the same incorrect name.

Police told Pliska she could not drive her vehicle because she did not have a valid license. The officer also told her a Washington County Children and Youth Services caseworker would meet her at her home.

Police said Pliska told them someone was picking them up, but an officer saw her driving out of the parking lot.

After receiving paperwork, police said they realized McCracken had given them an incorrect name.

Pliska and McCracken were arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller, who set bond on each at $5,000. Pliska is charged with conspiracy to commit false reports, hindering apprehension and driving under suspension. McCracken is charged with retail theft, false identification to police, false reports, possession of paraphernalia and conspiracy.

State police also filed charges of false identification to police, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and traffic violations against McCracken at the office of District Judge Larry Hopkins.
