Chartiers Township police charged a man and woman with furnishing alcohol to minors last month during a gathering at which a 13-year-old girl reportedly fell ill and had to be taken to a hospital for treatment.

Kolby Zylo, 21, of 112 Wide St., Houston, and Sarah C. Durham, 37, of 125-A Fries Lane, McDonald, were charged Wednesday with three counts each of corruption of minors and selling or furnishing liquor to minors and one count of reckless endangerment.

Police were called about 5:40 p.m. Dec. 16 to Zylo’s home. Two 13-year-old girls and a 14-year-old boy were at the home, where they reportedly drank a bottle of apple brandy that Durham allegedly had purchased earlier at a state liquor store.

One of the girls had consumed enough brandy that she had to be helped to a bed, where she passed out, police said. The girl was in the bed when police arrived, and one of the officers had difficulty waking her.

When the girl did wake up and talk, an officer said she was moaning, not making any sense and acting very confused. An ambulance was called, and the girl was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.

Police said they found an empty apple brandy bottle in the kitchen trash can. Durham and Zylo allegedly told police they were going to eventually take the girl to the hospital but did not call for help because they did not want anyone to get in trouble.

The three teenagers will be charged with underage drinking, police said.

The charges against Durham and Zylo were sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark. The two are scheduled for a Feb. 6 preliminary hearing before Mark.
