Charleroi man jailed for allegedly fleeing state prison sentence

Michael Bryan Jolly

A Charleroi man who fled from a state prison sentence last year was arraigned by District Judge Robert Redlinger Monday afternoon and jailed on $100,000 bail.

Michael Bryan Jolly, 56, of 216 Lincoln Ave., was sentenced by Washington County Judge Michael Lucas Jan. 27, 2017, to 6 ½ to 13 years in state prison. A jury previously convicted him of conspiracy, two firearms violations and six counts of receiving stolen property for persuading a woman to steal six firearms from a Washington man’s home where she was staying.

Lucas ordered Jolly to report to jail following the hearing, but surveillance footage allegedly shows Jolly leaving the main entrance to the courthouse and leaving in an SUV, allegedly driven by Jolly’s son-in-law, Samuel E. Miller, 33, of Charleroi.

Both Jolly and Miller are facing charges of conspiracy and flight to avoid apprehension that were filed by Washington County detectives last year. A bench warrant had been filed for Jolly. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Jan. 17 before Redlinger.
