Assault trial ends in acquittal
The trial of a Washington man charged in an alleged attack on another man last year ended in acquittal.
A Washington County jury found Fred Riggle, 44, not guilty on counts of simple assault and aggravated assault Tuesday at the end of his one-day trial before Judge Valarie Costanzo.
City police filed charges March 6. Police said in court papers that the alleged victim told them he’d been admitted to a Pittsburgh hospital after Riggle became upset about something and attacked him while they were at Riggle’s Ewing Street home the previous month.
