Police Beat Jan. 13
WASHINGTON
Assault charges: Two people were charged by Washington police with simple assault after witnesses reported they were fighting on Bassett Alley Thursday afternoon. Kristina Ray, 27, of 24 School St., Claysville, and Timothy F. Booker, 38, of 65 Gardner St., Avella, allegedly punched each other several times before police arrived. Police said Booker gave them a wrong name and birthdate, and Ray tried to run from officers twice before they were able to arrest her. Ray also was charged with resisting arrest, and Booker with giving false identification to an officer. Both were arraigned Thursday night by District Judge Robert Redlinger and jailed on $10,000 bonds.
Strangulation charge: Michael A. Humphreys, 48, of 114 Hall Ave., Washington, was charged by Washington police with strangulation and simple assault after he allegedly grabbed his 51-year-old girlfriend by the throat for about 30 seconds, punched her in the face and kicked her after the couple argued at his residence about 10:15 p.m. Thursday. Humphreys was arraigned Thursday night by District Judge Robert Redlinger and jailed on $10,000 bond.
