The two clerks who were working at the store at 935 Henderson Ave. told Trooper Thomas Kress a light-skinned black man entered about 9:30 p.m. and demanded money.
The robber had a small, silver handgun he pointed at both clerks.
One of the clerks took money out of the register and gave it to the robber. He ran along the front of the shopping complex, past the adjacent Lowry’s Western Shop and around the side of the building before disappearing from sight.
North Strabane Township police Sgt. Matthew Mancini and his K-9, Drago, traced the footsteps before losing the trail near North Hewitt Avenue.
The robber wore a hooded shirt that was white with a gray hood. He also wore blue jogging pants and a neon yellow safety cloth or T-shirt pulled over his face, with small slits for his eyes. Only his hands were exposed. The robber was about 6 feet tall with a thin to medium build.
Kress said he had no information as to whether Monday’s robbery was related to three other robberies in Washington County in the last few weeks. The 7-Eleven at the BP station on West Chestnut Street, North Franklin Township, was robbed Jan. 17. The BP station on Murtland Avenue in South Strabane Township was robbed Friday afternoon. A Rite Aid on West Main Street in Monongahela was held up about 5 p.m. Sunday.
Kress said he forwarded information on Monday’s robbery to the departments handling the other investigations.
Anyone with information on Monday’s robbery is asked to call state police at 724-223-5200.
