MONONGAHELA – A Monongahela man is accused of stealing eight guns from his brother last month and selling them for cash.

Monongahela police initially apprehended the suspect, Justin M. Warner, Jan. 25 on a warrant filed in a drug case from Harrisburg, court records show.

Warner was served Tuesday with a warrant signed by District Judge Curtis Thompson charging him with eight counts each of theft and receiving stolen property and two counts of carrying a firearm without a license.

Monongahela police were called Jan. 25 to the 518 Marne Ave. apartment Warner shared with his brother, Joshua, to investigate the theft of two handguns, two rifles and four shotguns, police noted in the affidavit supporting the criminal charges in the case.

Joshua Warner told police he last saw his weapons Jan. 16 when he stored them under his bed. Nothing else was missing, and there was no evidence someone had broken into the apartment, police said.

Justin Warner, 30, denied having anything to do with the stolen guns, court records indicate.

Police later received a call from Lacey Firearms, 306 E. Main St., Monongahela, to alert officers the business purchased three weapons from Justin Warner for $305. The investigation later revealed he sold two of the stolen guns to Quick Cash in Elizabeth for $225.

He is wanted in Dauphin County on drug charges filed in December 2014 by Harrisburg police, online court records show. Police said he also has convictions in Pennsylvania, Florida and New York, two of which involved felony charges.

Thompson set bond at $15,000 on the gun theft charges.
