California Borough man charged with rape in Fayette County
A California Borough man was in custody Thursday, charged with rape and related offenses in Fayette County.
Washington Township police arrested Michael Christopher Brown, 23, on Sunday following accusations he raped a woman about 4:45 a.m. that day in a residence on Grata Street, court records show.
Police said Brown walked into the residence through an unlocked door and assaulted the alleged victim in her bedroom. She told an officer Brown choked her until she passed out, police stated in the affidavit.
The alleged victim also said she believed Brown used her smartphone before she awoke to send himself text messages to make it appear as if she had invited him over.
Brown, of 208 Second St., also is charged with sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, strangulation, indecent assault and burglary.
He was placed in Fayette County jail on $50,000 bond set by District Judge Ronald J. Haggerty Jr.
