A Fallowfield Township man is being held without bail following his arrest Friday on weapons and other charges in two cases from earlier this year.

Justin D. Key, 28, appeared before District Judge Larry Hopkins for his arraignment. A court official said Key was detained somewhere in West Virginia that morning.

Court records say Hopkins deemed Key a flight risk. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 19.

Key faces charges of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, possessing explosive/incendiary material, risking a catastrophe and possessing weapons of mass destruction.

State police filed those charges May 17 following a search of Key’s Wilson Road home that allegedly turned up 15 guns and five powerful fireworks known as M-80s, which are illegal without a permit, earlier that month.

Police also allegedly found six rifle magazines, a box of ammunition, five pistol magazines, a SKA standard stock system and tools for a Glock subcompact laser.

Police initially searched the home in a drug case and obtained a second warrant after allegedly spotting firearms in Key’s bedroom.

By then, Key already had been declared a fugitive in a case brought by Charleroi Regional police in January in which he’s charged with simple assault in connection with an incident in the borough.

Court records show Key is serving probation in a case in which he pleaded guilty to simple assault last year. He pleaded guilty to a felony charge of drug delivery in 2015.

Court records don’t list an attorney for Key, who is in Washington County jail.
