CARMICHAELS
Simple assault charge: Jonathon Allen Matthews, 26, of 214 Parkview Knoll, Carmichaels, was charged with simple assault, harassment, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct in connection with an altercation Wednesday. Cumberland Township police received a report of a fight in the parking lot of Parkview Knoll. Witnesses directed police to apartment 214, where Shania Gallatin reportedly said she and her husband had gotten into a fight and he hit her in the left cheek. The two were outside and continued to argue as they walked into the apartment, police said. Matthews said he did not hit Gallatin, and that it was just an argument.
CUMBERLAND
Drug, driving charges: Latisha Maryanne Rush, 33, of 43 Cumberland Village, Carmichaels, was charged Tuesday with DUI, marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and three summary driving violations, including two for having unrestrained children in a vehicle. Cumberland Township police pulled over Rush April 8 at 150 Cumberland Village for an expired inspection. Police said a 6-year-old boy was not secured in the backseat, and a 2-year-old girl was in the front seat unrestrained. Rush contacted the father of the children to pick them up, and Children and Youth Services was contacted. Police said they found suspected marijuana in the vehicle, and a blood test showed THC in Rush’s system.
Theft alleged: Timothy M. Hela, 30, of 315 Lauredale Road, Perryopolis, was charged with theft and receiving stolen property in connection with an incident June 7. David Dinger, the owner of DWD Equipment Transportation Co., reported to Cumberland Township police a former employee, Hela, had stolen one of his trailers. Hela had been fired May 31. State police said they recovered the trailer from Hela’s residence June 8, attached to a truck registered to Hela.
