Conservation District offices plan moving days
The Washington County Conservation District, 2800 North Main St., Washington, plans to move Monday and Tuesday to a newly-renovated building at 50 Old Hickory Ridge Road across from the county fairgrounds.
Washington County substantially expanded the building, adding a second floor. It also increased the number of parking spaces.
The cost of the renovations to date is $1,571,798, according to Randy Vankirk, Washington County purchasing director.
The conservation district was having its phones switched to its new quarters on Friday, but Manager Gary Stokum said Thursday, “It may take a couple of days to get back up to speed.”
The conservation district will post a sign on the office it’s vacating at what many locals refer to as the “old RCA plant.”
Its new address most recently served as the headquarters for the Tyler Technologies staff during the recent property reassessment. Before that it was used as a shelter for youth and a juvenile detention home.
