Donora man jailed in stabbing
DONORA – A Donora man has been charged with attempted homicide in connection with a stabbing in his home Monday afternoon.
District Judge Mark Wilson sent the suspect, Johnathan Michael Scheffris, 26, to Washington County jail on $100,000 bond on accusations he stabbed Brentt Jones in the stomach with a large knife, court records indicate.
Donora police were sent to Scheffris’ 500 McKean Ave. apartment at 4:10 p.m., where an officer found Jones holding a bloody towel over his stomach, the records show.
Jones then said, “He stabbed me,” while pointing to a hallway.
The officer walked into the hallway, where he found Scheffris, police stated in the affidavit supporting the criminal charges in the case. Scheffris’ blood-stained shirt was found on the floor, police said.
Another man who lives in the same building, Ryan Michel, said the two men were arguing, and the next thing he knew, Jones asked him for a towel.
Michel also told police he saw Scheffris with a knife and took it from him. The knife was collected as evidence, police noted in the record.
Jones’ condition was not immediately known Tuesday. Police did not indicate what the men were arguing about.
Scheffris also is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing before Wilson at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 1.
