Washington man jailed on gun, heroin charges

A Washington man was jailed Monday on charges he possessed heroin and others regarding weapons violations following a search of his residence.
The Washington County drug task force charged Shaquore Marquis Yarbrough, 24, after the search allegedly produced three bundles of the drug and $1,227, along with a .40-caliber handgun, Washington County District Attorney Gene Vittone said.
Investigators went to Yarbrough’s residence at 2 p.m. with a search warrant signed by District Judge Mark Wilson.
A state trooper watched as Yarbrough jumped from a second-story balcony to the ground, where he was taken into custody.
Investigators indicated a gun was found nearby on the ground with one round in its chamber and a magazine loaded with bullets, according to the affidavit.
Yarbrough, of 450½ Third St., was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson and placed in Washington County Jail on $100,000 bond. Police charged Yarbrough with illegal possession of a firearm, possessing a firearm with an altered manufacturer’s number, drug possession with intent to deliver, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
