Amwell man faces fourth DUI charge after crash

An Amwell Township man was arraigned Monday on his fourth charge of driving under the influence, filed by South Strabane Township police after a crash last month.
Stacy Dylan Pawich, 47, of 1148 Brush Run Road, is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license DUI-related, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
Police were called May 14 for a one-vehicle crash on Route 40 at Redd Run Road. Pawich reportedly pulled out from Redd Run, drove across Route 40 and went over a hill. Found inside the center console of the vehicle were six stamp bags of suspected heroin, three empty stamp bags and a syringe, police said.
Pawich was checked at the scene by ambulance personnel and refused treatment. He was taken to Washington Hospital, where he agreed to have his blood drawn for testing. Police said a toxicology report showed Pawich had heroin, fentanyl and morphine in his system at the time of the crash.
Pawich pleaded guilty last year to a charge of driving under the influence filed by Washington police. He was found passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle in a McDonald’s drive-through in June 2017.
Pawich, who is in Washington County jail on a probation violation, was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit, who set a $2,500 unsecured bond. He faces a June 15 preliminary hearing in DUI court.
