Strangulation charge: Mark William Metcalf, 33, of 142 Wood St., Nemacolin, was charged with strangulation, simple assault and harassment after Cumberland Township police said he assaulted his girlfriend and put her in a headlock in his township residence about 12:45 a.m. Friday. Metcalf is in Greene County jail on $7,500 bond.
Simple assault charge: James Robert Schiffbauer, 28, of 270 Perry Ave., Nemacolin, was charged with simple assault and harassment after Cumberland Township police said he threw a stereo at his girlfriend and damaged her apartment at 306 Parkview Knoll in the township about 8:45 a.m. Thursday. He is being held at Greene County jail on $2,500 percentage bond.
MORGAN
Strangulation charge: State police charged Cody Cassidy Watazychyn, 24, of 673 Castille Run Road, with strangulation, simple assault and harassment after troopers said he assaulted and choked his girlfriend at their Morgan Township residence following an argument shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday. The woman told police Watazychyn also assaulted her May 31, according to court documents. Watazychyn is being held at Greene County jail on $20,000 cash bond.
PERRY
Drug charges: Travis Areford, 26, of Waynesburg, was charged Wednesday with carrying a firearm without a license, driving on a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance and sale of a controlled substance following a May 23 traffic stop in Perry Township. Greene Regional police said they stopped Areford on Locust Avenue in Mt. Morris and found bags of methamphetamine and a handgun in his car. He and two other people in the car were questioned and released, police said. Greene County sheriff’s deputies arrested Areford in Waynesburg early Friday and he was taken to Greene County jail on $50,000 cash bond.
