Meadows turns the tables on statewide table games revenue

Revenue from table games played at the state’s 12 casinos last month rose marginally from the previous May – thanks largely to a magnificent May at The Meadows.
The gaming venue in North Strabane Township generated $3,236,107 in revenue last month, up 124.25 percent from $1,443,067 from May 2017, according to figures released Monday on the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board website.
Only seven casinos posted gains from a year earlier, and The Meadows Casino outperformed the venue with the second-biggest improvement by a wide margin – Valley Forge Casino Resort, which posted a 67.96 percent increase.
Collectively, the 12 casinos collected $74,908,874 in revenue, a 0.60 percent increase from $74,464,759 in May 2017.
The Meadows did not have a good April, though, dropping by more than $300,000 from April 2017.
Rivers Casino, on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, and Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, in Fayette County, both posted gains from May 2017. Rivers’ figure went up 15.94 percent, from $5,424,038 to $6,288,483; Lady Luck’s revenue increased 5.03 percent, from $385,802 to $405,220.
The control board reported $12,058,720 in tax revenue was generated by table games play last month, with an average of 1,271 tables operating daily.
Adding figures for slots play, total gaming revenue for May increased 0.43 percent statewide over the year, from $277,712,934 to $278,902,133. That was an increase of $1.2 million.
The Meadows posted a slight loss – 0.04 percent – in total gaming revenue last month, from $20,603,143 in 2017 to $20,595,361. Rivers’ total revenue went up 5.08 percent, while Lady Luck’s dropped 8.62 percent.
