Pop artist coming to Bowlby Library in Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG – Michael Albert, the American pop artist and author known for making collages out of cereal boxes and other printed cardboard brand packages, will be bringing his traveling “Hands-On Cereal Box Collage” workshop to the Eva K. Bowlby Public Library in Waynesburg this weekend.
The special art-making session and learning experience event is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and serves as the library’s Summer Reading Quest Kick-Off.
Participants will have the opportunity of meeting the artist, hearing a short talk where he will introduce himself to the group & show examples of his creations and then lead an art-making workshop using the same materials he uses to create his serious masterpieces. All participants will receive a free gift from the artist, choosing between one of his 15 limited edition posters to take with them as a special memento.
Albert, a native of Long Island, N.Y., has been making art since his college days at New York University where he studied business. Over the past decade hehas brought this program to more than 1,000 schools, libraries, museums and other art venues across the country and Europe.
