EAST FINLEY

Aggravated assault charges: Robert Daniel Taggart Jr., 42, of Wheeling, W.Va., was charged by state police with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment, disorderly conduct and four summary traffic violations after he allegedly struck a woman with his car earlier this month. Police said they responded June 15 to a report of a disturbance in the 2000 block of Pleasant Grove Road. Police said Taggart allegedly tried to pull the woman from the passenger seat of his vehicle. Police said she started yelling for help as Taggart began kicking and punching her, breaking her arm. According to the criminal complaint, the woman got out of the vehicle and started walking away, and Taggart left in the car. He allegedly returned “at a high rate of speed” and struck the woman, who had been sitting along the road, the complaint said. The woman was able to get up and walk away, but Taggart allegedly chased her on foot and stole her cellphone before fleeing, the complaint said. When police talked to Taggart the following day, he at first told them he hadn’t been in Pennsylvania, then said he was “really drunk last night” and didn’t remember anything, the complaint said.

Terroristic threats charge: James Brian Boris, 44, of 57 Kelley Lane, Hickory, was charged by Mt. Police said about 10:20 p.m., they responded to Boris’ house because he allegedly had been drinking and throwing things. An hour later, police were called back to the residence because Boris allegedly told his wife and their 4-year-old child he was going to slit his wife’s throat and stomp on her head. Boris was arraigned by District Judge Curtis Thompson Monday morning and released on a $5,000 surety bond.
