Garage and cars destroyed, house damaged in Cecil fire

A fire Tuesday night destroyed a garage and several vehicles and damaged a home on Route 980 in Cecil Township.
Alan Zombeck, chief of the Cecil No. 2 (Muse) Volunteer Fire Department, said the call at 9:39 p.m. initially came in as a shed on fire at the residence at 1606 Route 980, but it actually was a garage with several vehicles inside.
Zombeck said the fire extended to the house, but firefighters were able to save that structure. Zombeck said there was some damage to the siding and windows. Four adults who were inside the house were able to escape safely, he said. Their identities were not immediately available.
A state police fire marshal responded, but Zombeck said the cause does not appear to be suspicious.
Assisting were firefighters from Cecil No. 3, McDonald and the Houston rapid intervention team. Canonsburg firefighters were on standby for Muse.
