Justin E. McElroy
WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man was arrested on multiple charges of robbery, burglary and aggravated assault following a home invasion in the borough Thursday morning.
Justin E. McElroy, 28, no address, is accused of forcing his way into a home at 206 S. Washington St. at 3:07 a.m. Thursday and assaulting two people before taking a purse, Waynesburg police said.
Tracy Tennant and Kody Scott said a man they knew to be McElroy entered the home around 3 a.m. without knocking and immediately hit Tennant in the face with a gun. Scott said he tried to intervene and then was also hit in the face with the gun and thrown over a couch. Both Tennant and Scott had injuries to their faces, police said in the criminal complaint.
Before McElroy left, Tennant said he grabbed her purse which had her identification and about $27 in it. McElroy ran from the home and police could not immediately locate him, issuing a warrant for his arrest.
McElroy faces two counts each of robbery with intent to inflict serious bodily injury, aggravated assault, robbery with threat to inflict immediate bodily injury, simple assault, reckless endangerment and simple harassment and one count each of burglary, loitering and prowling at night time, criminal trespass and theft.
McElroy was arraigned Thursday by District Judge David Balint and taken to Greene County jail on $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear before Balint at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
