PennDOT to hold meeting Route 40 bridge project
The state Department of Transportation will hold a meeting to inform the public of the proposed replacement of the structure spanning Route 40 at the Route 88 (West Brownsville and California) interchange from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. March 15 at the Sons of Italy, 16 Race St., Brownsville.
The project involves replacement of the structure spanning Route 40 at the Route 88 interchange that carries Ramp F ( Route 88 to Route 40 east) and Ramp G (Route 40 east to Route 88) over Route 40. The structure will remain on the existing alignment and will have two 14-foot lanes, two 8-foot shoulders and a 2-foot mountable concrete divider.
The new structure will be raised to provide the required 16-foot, 6-inch clearance over Route 40. To obtain the required clearance the vertical alignment will be raised approximately 2 feet, 10 inches.
Minor approach roadway work will be required as part of this project along with guardrail, signing and pavement markings, and other updates as required.
Replacement of the structure is anticipated to be completed under a detour.
PennDOT representatives will be available to answer questions.
