Gas prices steady in Washington, down in region

The average price of self-service unleaded gasoline remained at $2.75 per gallon in Washington this week, but dropped 2.1 cents across Western Pennsylvania, according to AAA East Central’s weekly report released Monday.

The area gas price dropped to $2.76. That is 25.9 cents than it was a year ago ($2.51). Pennsylvania’s average price fell one cent, to $2.75 – among the highest figures in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast region.

Prices nationwide pushed up 2 cents to at $2.55 per gallon, according to AAA.

Gas prices in Washington remain among the most affordable in Western Pennsylvania.

Its average price is the fifth-lowest among 22 Western Pennsylvania cities and towns listed by AAA this week. Sharon, for the second week in a row, had the lowest price listed, $2.68.8 – down 4.7 cents from last week. Du Bois ($2.71.5) was the second lowest, followed by Uniontown ($2.73.7), Altoona ($2.74.6) and Washington.

Kittanning ($2.81.3) had the highest price.
