Morgan Township man sentenced to 338 years in federal prison
A Greene County man who pleaded guilty to raping a young girl for more than a decade and sharing videos of the molestation on the internet now has accumulated enough prison time to serve for several lifetimes.
Eric James Stull, 50, of Morgan Township, was sentenced in federal court Tuesday to 338 years, 1 month and 11 days for producing and sharing video files of the assaults.
He had already been given what equated to a life sentence last year in Greene County Court for molesting and raping a young girl over a 10-year period, starting when the victim was 2 years old.
During Stull’s sentencing, Senior U.S. District Judge Donetta Ambrose said it was an “entirely heinous crime” and “the worst of its kind” she had seen.
“It’s hard to know what to say to you. You committed indefensible conduct,” she told Stull.
In June, a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh handed down a 41-count indictment against Stull. He pleaded guilty in September to nine counts of production of materials depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor and one count each of possession and distribution of those materials.
Stull’s federal public defender, Thomas Livingston, did not return a call seeking comment on the case.
According to the indictment, Stull produced 39 videos and 106 images of his sexual exploitation. He shared a video on the internet using a file-sharing service in July 2015. Undercover investigators received the file and traced it to Stull’s home, which led to the execution of a search warrant at his Teagarden Homes residence.
In an April 2016 raid, police found 35 videos depicting molestation and rape beginning in May 2006. There was also evidence Stull was producing and sharing some of the videos on the internet. He was arrested that day in Waynesburg. Stull originally just faced charges for the production of child pornography. Child rape charges followed when police interviewed the victim after the initial arrest and she told investigators about the abuse.
Stull pleaded guilty in October 2016 in Greene County Court to 34 counts each of child rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and unlawful contact with a child and 30 counts of corruption of a minor.
Stull’s federal sentence is to be served concurrently to local charges. Stull was sentenced by Greene County Judge Lou Dayich to 340 to 680 years in prison last April. Although it’s unlikely he’d ever be released from custody, he would be required to lifetime supervised release and must register as a sex offender.
