Police have identified a second suspect in Monday’s shooting in Waynesburg who allegedly admitted to officers his involvement in the armed robbery.

Kody Alan Scott, 21, of 206 S. Washington St., Waynesburg, was arrested Tuesday night and charged in connection with the armed robbery in which police said drugs were involved.

Waynesburg police said Johnathan C. Fannon was shot multiple times Monday night after two armed intruders entered his apartment at 53 S. Morris St.

Fannon was hospitalized, but borough Officer Thomas Ankrom said Wednesday he had since been released. Ankrom did not say how many times Fannon was shot, but said Fannon fought for his life during the struggle.

Police are still looking for the other suspect, Cody D. Jannenga, 21, of Piney Flats, Tenn., and a warrant for his arrest was issued Tuesday morning. Waynesburg police are asking for those with information on Jannenga and his location to contact police. Jannenga was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and robbery.

Ankrom said Wednesday Jannenga moved to the area about a year ago. He is described as white with green eyes, brown hair and between 140 and 160 pounds. He stands around 6 feet, 1 inches tall. Police are unsure if Jannenga is still in the area or returned home to his native Tennessee.

Scott is being held at the Greene County jail on a $75,000 bond.

In court documents, police said they received information that Scott was the other man involved in this incident. Police said they found Scott at his home and brought him into the station for questioning, where he reportedly “admitted his involvement and provided and a full written statement about what had taken place,” according to the criminal complaint.

Ankrom said police knew Scott and Jannenga were friends and although the shooting victim did not know Scott, he was able to provide a description that matched him.

Borough police found Fannon lying on the patio just outside his apartment shortly after 10 p.m. Monday with multiple gunshot wounds to his left thigh with a neighbor attempting to stop the bleeding.

According to the criminal complaint, Fannon, his girlfriend, Brandi Stump, and their 16-month old child just arrived home before the shooting.

Someone knocked on the door around 10 p.m. and Stump said she looked through the curtains and saw a man facing away from the door. When she answered it, the man pointed a gun at her. Stump said she immediately recognized Jannenga because she sold Subutex pills earlier in the day, according to court documents.

No charges had been filed against Stump as of Wednesday afternoon.

Scott faces three counts of robbery, including one with a specification of intent to inflict serious bodily injury, four counts of conspiracy to commit robbery and aggravated assault, theft by unlawful taking and harassment. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 2:30 p.m. April 6 with district Judge Glenn Bates.

Scott appeared in district court earlier this month providing testimony in an alleged home invasion. Scott and his mother Tracy Tennant told police Justin E. McElroy, 28, forced his way into their Waynesburg apartment early March 1 and assaulted them before taking Tennant’s purse.

Scott was reluctantly confident about the assailant’s identity and said he knew the man that broke in was McElroy because he’s “heard he has been going around robbing everyone,” Scott said in court.
