Robinson Fork mitigation project to be explained
Conor Gillespie of Resource Environmental Solutions and the Upper Wheeling Creek Watershed Association will give a presentation, “The RES Robinson Fork Mitigation Bank Overview,” on April 4 at the East Finley Township Municipal Building,
The Upper Wheeling Creek Watershed in Washington County encompasses nearly all of East and West Finley townships, and also portions of Donegal and Morris townships. Within this watershed is what is known as a mitigation bank project, which is one of the largest floodplain developments in the Northeastern United States, according to the mitigation company Resource Environmental Solutions.
Also present will be Shawyn Yeamans, project manager. The Robinson Fork floodplain area crosses East Finley and West Finley townships. The presentation will begin at the municipal building, 1394 East Finley Drive (Route 231), about 6.5 miles south of Route 40 in Claysville at 10 a.m., with coffee and doughnuts available for early arrivals. Attendees will be encouraged to carpool to visit the mitigation site, approximately 8 miles and 20 minutes away, and then return to the municipal building for the completion of the program.
As the name implies, the Upper Wheeling Creek Watershed drains into Wheeling Creek, with the main tributaries being Rocky Run, Templeton Run, Blockhouse Run and Beham Run in addition to Robinson Run. The event is free and open to the public. For more information or to reserve a seat, email jonpat@pulsenet.com or call 724-484-7537.
