A head-on crash injured two people, one critically, Thursday night on Route 40 in Buffalo Township, a Washington County 911 supervisor said.

An emergency medical helicopter was on standby at McGuffey High School, 86 McGuffey Drive, to take one of the occupants of a vehicle to a trauma center, he said.

The crash, which happened at about 9:45 p.m. near the school, caused one of the vehicles to break in half, the supervisor said.

Additional information on the accident was not immediately available late Thursday.
