Peters police charge three in forgery
Peters Township police filed charges against a Venetia woman and two of her acquaintances after they allegedly used credit cards she stole from her parents to make purchases.
Jacquelyn Josephine Sexton, 19, of 962 Bebout Road, Venetia is charged with theft, access device fraud and forgery. James Paul Brannan, 20, of Pittsburgh, and Ashley Brown, 20, of 309 Thompsonville Road, McMurray, are each charged with forgery and access device fraud.
Sexton’s parents contacted police in March to report several credit cards were stolen from their home.
Police determined Sexton allegedly stole the cards. She, Brown and Brannan were caught on surveillance footage using the stolen credit cards to purchase clothing and appliances, police said. Purchases of $16,430 were made using the cards between November and March.
Much of the merchandise that was purchased with the stolen cards was found at Brown’s home. Two of the stolen cards in the name of Sexton’s mother were found at the Thompsonville residence. Brown and Sexton reportedly admitted to police to using the credit cards to make purchases.
Brannan, who is in Allegheny County jail on a probation violation after pleading guilty to theft and firearms charges filed aby South Park Township police, was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit who set bond at $17,500. Sexton and Brown were charged by summons from Pettit’s office.
All three are scheduled for a May 22 preliminary hearing before Pettit.
