Washington County commissioners
Date: May 17
Action: At the request of Finance Director Joshua Hatfield, the board renewed the county’s property and casualty insurance through June 1, 2019, with the Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool. It covers boilers and machinery, general liability, inland marine and computers, automobile, law enforcement, crime, public officials and terrorism at an annual premium of $495,274.
At the request of Clerk of Courts Frank Scandale, the commissioners entered into an agreement with Convenient Payments, Pineapple LLC, to provide customers with access to statewide electronic payment processing by phone. A daily report of fines and costs paid will be issued to the clerk of courts office, and processing fees will be borne by the client. No county funds are required.
The board entered into an agreement with Hilltop Outdoor Services LLC to mow and clear approximately seven acres of county property adjoining the Premier Washington Health Center along North Main Street. Initial brush hogging and weed cutting will be $1,200; mowing, $300 per cut; and monthly weed cutting, $200.
As approved by the Prison Board on May 16, the jail will purchase an oven, water softener, proofing cabinet and serving counter at an estimated cost of $44,000.
Reappointments: Leslie Grenfell and Nicholas Rawlins, Washington County Transportation Authority.
Attendance: Commission Chairman Larry Maggi was absent. All votes were 2-0.
Announcement: County offices will be closed Monday, May 28, for Memorial Day.
