Hammer-wielding man robs Jefferson convenience store

State police are investigating an armed robbery in Jefferson Monday morning where the robber used a hammer to steal cash from a store clerk.
Just after 6 a.m., a white man entered the BFS Foods at 1496 Jefferson Road armed with a hammer, threatened the clerk and demanded money from the register, police said.
The suspect, who was approximately 6 feet tall, wearing black, grey and white camouflage shorts, a dark gray Adidas hooded sweatshirt and orange and black gloves, then ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash from the store.
Gloves and a sweatshirt that matched the suspect’s clothing description were later found at Maiden and Washington streets in Jefferson. The clothing, according to a state police release, will be sent to a lab for DNA testing.
