A 33-year-old Washington woman was injured when she was allegedly assaulted by an acquaintance at a Third Street home early Thursday.

A resident in the 400 block of Donnan Avenue told Washington police she was awakened about 4:35 a.m. by Kimberly Colbert, who was ringing the doorbell and asking for help. The resident told police she did not know Colbert.

Colbert had red marks on her face, arm and feet. She was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.

Colbert told police she had called her acquaintance, a 62-year-old woman, and made arrangements to get together. She said the other woman picked her up and they went to the home on Third, where they reportedly drank beer.

About 11 p.m. Wednesday, they reportedly went to a store on Jefferson Avenue to get more beer. They met a man, whom they both know, and all three returned to the house.

Colbert and the other woman reportedly got into a fight. Colbert told police two of the other woman’s neighbors also assaulted her.

The other woman told police Colbert broke the glass in her front door. Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident and no arrests have been made.
